I’m writing this the evening of 2/13/21, Day +16. I wasn’t able to go up to the hospital today because I’ve had a fever (and body aches and fatigue) all day today after my vaccination yesterday. Considering how frantic my past few weeks have been, especially the past few days, having a “forced” day of rest probably wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened. Even so, it was hard not to be up there. Hopefully by tomorrow I’ll feel back to normal and can visit again.
It looks like Kendall has some sort of pneumonia, as well as a partially collapsed lung, and a fever again, so he is now on oxygen and antibiotics. His CMV is also now active but is probably not related to the pneumonia. Kendall wasn’t able to eat or drink anything today, and his pain is still pretty bad on his left side and continues to have the doctors baffled as to the cause.
Despite these setbacks, there were also some positive things from today. Kendall’s bilirubin levels (indicating liver function) were actually a little better today, and for the first time his ANC number (measuring neutropils and immune system function) moved up from 0 and is now 0.18. Hoping that number will continue to climb, which would mean engraftment is happening.
